The third Monday of January is known as Blue Monday, the day when, according to British psychologist Cliff Arnell, we are the most depressed. The holidays are over, the days are still short and dark, spring is still far away, and nothing has come of those good intentions.
De Hallen in Amsterdam is dedicating a week to mental health. With the help of art, film, fashion, and more, we seek relief and meaningful conversations, because art inspires and opens the mind.

It would be good if we talked more about how we are doing. Sharing your problems with someone else often makes them feel a bit lighter. That’s why The Bluest Monday uses art to start the conversation. Art opens your mind. It pulls you out of your endless stream of thoughts and guides you in new directions. Art provides clarity, inspiration, new ideas, and, perhaps, even hope.
